WPR Recreation Center

Construction Update

On October 18, WPR Staff, WSD3 distinguished guest, and community stakeholders participated in the topping out ceremony marking the placement of the last structural beam for the new recreation center. Construction is just past the halfway point and the center is still on schedule to open in July. We are excited to see the vision of making the WPR Main Campus a community hub come to fruition. Follow the construction progress by visiting the WPR Recreation Center information page on our website.

Impact of Construction

During the twelve month construction period, our campus will see several impacts. Parking lots, road ways, and sidewalks will have changes and improvements. This will make the campus easier to navigate and more accessible. Unfortunately during construction, some areas will be closed off and parking will be limited. The new recreation center and campus roadway improvements will allow us to better serve the community needs in the future. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

WSD3 Toy Drive

The WSD3 Toy Drive kicked off on November 28. The toy drive started in 2014 by the district's Positive Action Team (PAT). PAT is made up of staff and students across the district whose mission is to make a positive impact in our community.

The district and community partners including the Security Public Library, Widefield Parks and Recreation, Fountain Valley Senior Center, and the Security Fire Department, participate each year by collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children.

On December 20, the Holiday Express bus will travel to each site for a special toy pick up by Santa and his helpers. The toys are then dropped off at the Security Fire Department who distributed them to more than a hundred families in our community.

District Delays & Closures

Widefield School District 3 is using a Weather Dial to show where we are in traditional weather closures before we move to virtual learning days. The District will also send updates to staff and families as we get closer to virtual learning days. Learn more about Delays and Closures.
