Join us for free education classes, brought to you by Highroots Wellness & Consulting. These classes will cover different topics regarding ways you can improve your overall health. No registration is required; seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Orientation to Fitness Area

Call 719-391-3518 to schedule 

30-minute orientation class, touring the fitness area, reviewing safety rules and how to properly use machines and equipment. This is NOT a personal training session, but a chance to familiarize yourself with the equipment and feel confident in working out safely after the orientation. We recommend everyone take this course prior to using the fitness area.

Minimum Age: 12 (Minimum to use area w/ Adult Supervision)

Call to schedule a time. Dependent on instructor availability. 

Intro to Weights 

Participants will learn proper form for multi-joint lifts which include, but are not limited to, hinge patterns, deadlifts, squats, and more! This will be designed for beginning lifts, or anyone who wants to grow in confidence in their lifting mechanics.

Martial Arts - Goju Ryu Karate

With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJO-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control.

Classes are offered year-round.  Class dates are subject to change per building schedule.

Kids on Bikes

Grades: 6th - 12th 

All middle and high school students are invited to join Kids on Bikes and Widefield Parks and Rec for a free cycling program! Kids on Bikes will provide bikes and helmets to all participants.  Participants are able to take the bike and helmet home for FREE on the last day if they do not own a bike, or have a bike that is broken or does not fit them at home. We will go on community rides, review bike skills, and learn some basic bike mechanics. Bring a water bottle and a snack, wear comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes. Please contact Jess Verplank at jess@kidsonbikes.net

Fitness Consultations

Ages 12+

One-on-one personal training consultation; discuss with one of our personal trainers any questions you have regarding basic nutrition, technique and form, programming ideas etc. 
*Must have Physician clearance if you are a male 45 years or older, female 55 years or older, or fail the PAR-Q+ Questionnaire IF you plan on doing physical activity during consultation (form/technique checks) 
PAR-Q+ must be completed and brought. Proof of payment must be provided to your Personal Trainer.

30 Minute Consultation -- $30.00

60 Minute Consultation - $60.00

Beginners Summer Yoga Alignment

Learn how to practice yoga in a way that actually fits your body. In this 6-week series, we slow down and break down common poses so you understand safe alignment, joint protection, and lots of modifications. Each week focuses on a different area (wrists and shoulders, knees and hips, low back, balance) so you leave with the confidence to walk into any yoga class and know how to make it work for you. Perfect for beginners and returning students who want a strong, sustainable foundation.
