Registration for the 2020/2021 school year

Registration for the 2020/2021 school year will open to the public beginning June 1. Until the office opens, we will follow the procedure below for registration:

  • In one email to mooret@wsd3.org, please send the required paperwork (birth certificate, current immunization records, student information form, allergy form) and class preference (Creative Kids AM or PM, Terrific Tots T/Th or W/F and AM or PM). 
  • Upon receiving the required paperwork via email, we will contact you via phone for the payment to secure your child's spot in class.
  • Contact for payment and registration will be made in the order we receive complete paperwork.

Class days, times, tuition, and information are listed at the bottom of this page. We will also need a current physical for your student when school starts.

ATTENTION: Current Students & Families

Registration update (5/13/2020): Current students/families are able to register for the 2020/2021 school year now (May 13 - 31) and will open to the public beginning June 1. Until the office opens, we will follow the procedure below for registration:

Update on March tuition: We have decided to refund 50% of your March Preschool tuition. Due to the COVID-19 closure, we are unable to process refunds as usual. So, we have refunded it to your account with us. You will be able to use these funds for any future programs offered by Widefield Parks & Recreation. If you are in a situation where you need these funds now, please leave a voicemail on our main office line (719-391-3515) and we will get in touch with you as soon as we are able.

Who...What...When...Where

Terrific Tots Preschool is a program tailored to the social, physical, and creative world of the 3 to young 4 year olds.

Age Requirements: 3 years by 10/1/2020 for the 2020/2021 school year (this follows the WSD3 guidelines)

Class Days & Times: Tuesday & Thursday OR Wednesday & Friday at 8:30 - 11am OR 12:15 - 2:45pm

Class Size & Location: 14 students per class with one teacher and one teacher’s aide. Classroom located at Widefield Parks & Recreation, 705 Aspen Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80911

Tuition & Fees: $810/annual or $90/month
Monthly fee due the 1st of each month
Plus a one-time $15 registration fee (non-refundable)

 

Curriculum: Our developmentally appropriate curriculum is geared toward introducing the 3 year old to academic basics. Our environment encourages social interaction, curiosity and love of learning in a caring atmosphere.

Literacy: We encourage interest in books and stories in the classroom and through our at-home program called Book Bear, along with weekly visits to the Security Public Library for Story Time. Students will be introduced to the Zoo-phonics program to promote correct letter sounds and letter recognition.

Creative Arts: To develop and refine your child’s fine motor skills, they will use a variety of materials including paint, play dough, stickers, paper, and glue.

Science: Science centers are available for children to experience throughout the school year. Experiments and predictions, planting seeds, and nature walks are part of the curriculum.

Math/Problem Solving: Counting, matching, building and measurements are a part of our daily math skills. Through these activities children will enhance their problem solving skills.

Physical Fitness: Gross motor skills are developed through a variety of fitness activities. Music and movement, playground, and PE are incorporated in the weekly schedule.

Programs & Celebrations: The children perform special programs for families during the school year. They are scheduled on a regular school day and will take place in the All-Purpose room. The children can also enjoy a Harvest and Valentine’s party and other special celebrations throughout the school year.

Field Trips & Guest Speakers: There are field trips scheduled during the school year. For these trips the children will be transported on WSD3 school buses. We also have guest speakers come to the classroom to share their job experiences with us.

About the Staff: Ms. Josie - "I have a total of 28 years of experience teaching preschool, 21 of those at Widefield Parks & Rec. I love fostering the love of learning in children."  Ms. Dina - "I have worked in WSD3 for 4 years. Prior to that, my husband and I were foster parents for 5 years. I love being a part of this wonderful program."

Who...What...When...Where

Creative Kids Preschool is a structured kindergarten readiness program tailored to the social, physical, and academic needs of 4 to 5 year olds preparing for kindergarten.

Age Requirements: 4 years by 10/1/2020 for the 2020/2021 school year (this follows the WSD3 guidelines)

Class Days & Times: Tuesday - Friday at 8:15 - 11:15am OR 12:30 - 3:30pm

Class Size & Location: 16 students per class with one teacher and one teacher’s aide. Classrooms located at Widefield Parks & Recreation, 705 Aspen Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80911

Tuition & Fees: $1944/annual or $216/month
Monthly fee due the 1st of each month
Plus a one-time $15 registration fee (non-refundable)

 

Curriculum: Our developmentally appropriate curriculum is geared toward preparing the students to succeed in Kindergarten. We offer a loving, caring atmosphere to learn and grow in. With a focus in literacy, math and science, we also incorporate everyday life skills necessary to make  an easy transition to Kindergarten.

Literacy: We encourage interest in books and stories in the classroom and through the use of the Security Public Children’s Library. The Story Time program and checking out books are designed to enhance the student's reading interests. Phonemic awareness and interactive read-aloud play a part in our weekly schedule. Students will use the Zoo-phonics program to promote correct letter sounds and letter recognition.

Creative Media: To develop and refine your child’s fine motor skills, they will use a variety of creative media including paint, crayon, chalk, play dough, glue bottles, and more.

Science: Science centers are available for children to experience throughout the school year and change seasonally with the curriculum. Life cycles of animals, nature walks, color blending, and season studies are just a few examples of the topics covered.

Math/Problem Solving: Pre-math, number recognition, printing, and counting are covered on a regular basis. Problem solving skills that will be useful in all students’ daily lives are a continuous part of our curriculum.

Physical Fitness: Gross motor skills are developed through a variety of fitness activities. Music and movement along with physical education are incorporated in the weekly schedule.

Programs & Celebrations: Our students perform special programs for their families during the school year. These events are scheduled on a regular school day and take place in the All-Purpose room. The children also enjoy Harvest, Valentine’s and other special celebrations throughout the school year.

Field Trips & Guest Speakers: There are two field trips scheduled during the school year. For these trips the children will be transported on WSD3 school buses. Our local fire department and a dental hygienist are a few classroom visitors that share their expertise.

We are passionate about teaching preschool children how to develop both socially and academically.”  Ms. Heather & Ms. Angie - “We have been a teaching team for 7 years and have over 20 years of experience.
