American Red Cross Classes
Babysitting Bootcamp
Thursday & Friday, January 2 & 3 -or- Thursday & Friday, May 29 & 30
This two-day class for 11 - 15 year old participants includes all of the skills and information covered in the American Red Cross Babysitting Class, plus First Aid & CPR. This fun and interactive training includes lively discussions and real life problem-solving skills, how to handle emergencies or illnesses, basic care-giving skills, how to choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games, and how to handle bedtime and discipline issues effectively.
Time: 9am - 3pm

CPR & First Aid Training - Blended Learning

This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. You will learn how to recognize and treat the following conditions and emergencies: unconsciousness, broken bones, head, neck, and back injuries, stroke, diabetic emergencies, seizures, fainting, poisoning, recognizing signals of heart attack, and more. Participants must be 11 years or older.
The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 3 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Please bring this digital certificate to the classroom skills portion of the class.

Join us for a youth art club with weekly meetings. Participants will learn drawing line work, shading, painting, layer, color mixing, multimedia art, and more. Participants will be supplied with a sketchbook for the session.

Best of Bear Trap

The 47 year tradition of WSD3 staff and students attending Bear Trap continues this summer. Located in Pike National Forest, Bear Trap Ranch provides the accommodations for our trip into Colorado's great outdoors. Our experienced and qualified staff will lead 6th, 7th and 8th grade (as of 2025/2026 school year) students on a hike to a great vantage point to see Colorado Springs from a new perspective. Campers will also rappel a boulder face, learn about nature, leave no trace, sing around a campfire with s'mores, and stargazing during a night hike. A great trip for all students whether this is their first time in the mountains or they already appreciate the outdoors. The 35 hours of adventure, great food, new experiences, and friends will be something to remember forever! Limited space available - register early! Register in person with required paperwork.

The Community Garden at Talbott Park is a place for community members to grow the garden they always wanted. It may be a beautiful flower garden or full of vegetables for your family to enjoy. Work side by side with neighbors or a new friend - a peaceful atmosphere with unlimited possibilities!

Swimming is back for our popular Night Owlz fun night! Drop off your pre-registered child for a fun night while parents take a well-deserved break. Your child will have the opportunity to splash around in the pool, play games, create arts and crafts, and enjoy a movie to end the night. Pizza, juice and pudding will be served for dinner.

The Details:
- Drop off at the pool entrance: 5:30 - 6pm. Please come in your swimsuit.
- Pick-up at the recreation center gym: 9 - 9:30pm
- All participants must be signed in and out by an adult with a contact phone number to reach during the event.
- Participants will need to wear sneakers and comfortable clothes they can move in.
- Food alternatives will not be provided. If participant has dietary restrictions, please bring own dinner - refrigerator space available.

All teens need a place where they feel they belong. Teen Diversity Night provides a safe environment where teens can be free to be themselves and come together to experience a safe night of inclusion and fun. Teen Diversity Night is a night bursting with games, arts & crafts, resources, and dinner.

Refund Policy
Full Refunds
Refunds/ Withdrawals/Transfers
1. Withdrawal prior to the registration deadline for the activity will receive the full refund, less a $5 processing charge.
2. Withdrawal between the registration deadline and the start of the program will receive a 50% refund of the fees, IF the participant can be replaced from the waiting list. If there is no waiting list for the program, no refund will be issued.
3. Withdrawal after start of a program will not be issued a refund.
4. A participant requesting to transfer from one class date to another, within the same registration period, must do so prior to the registration deadline of the program in order to receive credit for their original payment.
Refund Options - Refunds can be given in three forms
1. Refunded as a credit to the Widefield Parks and Recreation account, which will be available to use on future registrations or activities. This is available for use immediately.
2. Refund to original debit/credit card. This generally takes up to two (2) business days to receive.
3. Refunded in the form of a check that will be mailed. Your current address must be confirmed at the time of the refund request. This can take up to two (2) weeks to receive.
For extenuating circumstances that fall outside of our refund policy to be considered, please submit a written statement of the circumstances to the department/program supervisor.
