WPR Preschool 2024/2025 School Year

Preschool registration is open for the 2024/2025 school year! More information and required paperwork can be found on our WPR Preschool website for our 3 year old and 4 year old programs!

Brick Garden

WPR is creating a brick garden in front of the Recreation Center. Bricks can be customized allowing you to advertise a company, celebrate you, your family, honor a loved one, or create a memoriam. All proceeds contribute to the Aaron Gutierrez Scholarship Fund. Fees range from $50-$85 based on size and customization. Place orders no later than May 31. Order bricks!

DIY Spice Paintings 
Learn how to make DIY paints from cooking spices you might find in your own home. In this art class, students will have fun making, painting, and smelling these spice paints. Students will use untraditional paint brushes to make art and use all their senses in this playful class. Date: Friday, May 10 @ 9 - 11am. Fee: $25. Ages: 6-13. Register by May 2. 

Painting P-art-y - Tulip Painting    
This adult painting class is for beginners and seasoned painters alike. You will be taken step by step through a Tulip painting to take home and enjoy. Participants will learn mixing techniques and layering effects, no previous knowledge is necessary. Our art instructor directs you through the painting process to help bring out your inner artist. Every student will walk away with a canvas painting. No need to bring anything with you, except your creativity! Date: Wednesday, May 15  @ 6:30 - 8:30pm. Fee: $25. Ages: 16+. Register by May 13.

Best of Bear Trap 
The 47 year tradition of students attending Bear Trap Ranch continues this summer! Located in Pike National Forest, Bear Trap Ranch provides the accommodations for our trip to experience Colorado's great outdoors. Our experienced and qualified staff will lead 6th, 7th and 8th grade (as of 2024/2025 school year) students on a hike to a great vantage point to see Colorado Springs from a new perspective. Campers will also rappel a boulder face, learn about nature, leave no trace, sing around a campfire with s'mores, and stargaze during a night hike. A great trip for all students whether this is their first time in the mountains or they already appreciate the outdoors. The overnight adventure with great food, new experiences, and friends will be something your child remembers forever! Camp Dates: June 26 - 7:30 am Depart from WPR,               June 27 - 5:30pm Return to WPR. Mandatory Parent Meeting Tuesday, June 11 @ 6pm at Widefield Parks and Recreation. Fee: $125. Register by June 10.

Mini & Me First Notes Music Enrichment 
Join these mini and me music classes for the youngest musicians, consisting of a mix of movement, children’s songs, and original music! Dates: Fridays, May 31 - June 28 @ 9:30 - 10:15am (Infant - 2 years) & 10:30 - 11:15am (3 - 5 years). Fee: $50. Register by May 26.

Drop-In Basketball, Pickleball, or Volleyball
The Recreation Center has designated “Drop-in” times to play Basketball, Pickleball, and/or Volleyball. During those times, areas are reserved and set up for this specific sport play, however, during “Open Gym” anyone who has paid for entry into the Recreation Center may use and access the gym for any sport or activity. We post a Weekly Gymnasium Schedule on the Recreation Center page of our website so you can stay in tune to when the space is available.

Teen Diversity Night
All teens need a place where they feel they belong. Teen Diversity Night provides a safe environment for teens to be themselves and come together to experience a safe night of inclusion and fun. Teen Diversity Night is a night bursting with games, arts & crafts, resources, and dinner. Date: Friday, May 10  @ 5 - 9pm at Mesa Ridge High School. Grades: 7th-12th. Fee: FREE. Register by May 9. 

SignUp for Open Swim
Dive into summer with us at the Aquatics Center for Open Swim! Experience the thrill of our diving board, conquer our climbing wall, and navigate the exciting Wibit Bridge. Spaces fill up quickly, so secure your spot for each session you plan to attend to guarantee your entry!

Night Owlz 
We have openings in Night Owlz! Register your child for a fun night while you take a well-deserved break from 6 - 9pm! Your child will have the opportunity to splash around in the pool, play games, create arts and crafts, and enjoy a movie to end the night. Pizza, juice, and pudding will be served for dinner. Ages: 7-10. Fee: $25. Date: May 17 

Adult Summer Softball Leagues
Summer is coming up and it’s a perfect time to play some softball! Get your team together and sign up for our Monday Coed League or our Tuesday Men’s League. Team fee is only $450 for 10 games. Deadline to register is May 26! 

Adult Summer Outdoor Grass Volleyball League
If playing volleyball on the grass surface and getting some Vitamin D is more your style, we offer our coed grass volleyball league. The team registration fee is only $150 and our registration deadline is June 9! Season starts on June 20!

Summer Slam Adult COED Volleyball Tournament
Time to get your tournament on! Our annual Summer Slam tourney is open for registration.
Only $150 per team with a 3 game guarantee. Winners take home camping/bbq prizes for the summer! Registration ends June 30!

Adult COED Kickball League
Want to go back in time and play an old school favorite?? Get a group of friends together and register for our summer kickball league! Only $250 per team to register. Registration deadline is June 2! 

Adult Summer Pickleball Leagues
Time to get your squad together and sign up for our summer pickleball leagues! We offer a morning and afternoon league on Mondays. Team registration fee is $120 for six weeks of play. League registration deadline is May 26. It’s kind of a big Dill! League begins on June 3. 

Adult Summer Cornhole League
Time to sink some bags! Get your partner and register for our summer cornhole league! Matches are on Wednesday afternoons and team registration fee is only $50. Make sure you register before June 2! Season starts on June 12! 

Adult Pickleball Lessons
Come learn the fundamentals of the fastest growing sport in America! We are offering 2-day lessons for $40! Sounds like a great dill! Make sure you register for our beginner or intermediate lessons! Relish the opportunity! Visit our website’s pickleball page for the full list of session dates. Great minds dink alike! 

Adult Pickleball “Skills and Drills”
If you want to focus on specific pickleball skills, then this program is for you! You could sign up for “Footwork and Strategy” or “Serving and Groundstrokes”! These sessions are perfect for the player that just wants to hone their skills. Registration deadlines are the Sundays before the scheduled Tuesday sessions. Limited spots available!

Youth Summer Baseball, Softball, & T-Ball
Join in the fun this summer and sign up for baseball, softball, & t-ball for ages 4 years through 8th grade. The season’s games will take place from June 3 to July 20, on WSD3 fields. Register by May 12.

Youth Fall Cheerleading
Register for our coed cheerleading teams for ages 4 years old to 5th grade. Cheer for a flag football team with great spirit at games that take place from August 10 to September 28, on WSD3 fields.
Register by July 14. 4 Years/Pre-K  Fee: $40 (5 games) | K-5th Grade Fee: $50 (7 games)

Basketball Camp
Register for a basketball camp at WPR. We will provide skill development opportunities through drills, games, and instruction. The camp will take place at the Recreation Center Monday through Friday from 9am - 12pm on July 15 - July 19. Boys and girls camps for ages 7-13. Register by July 10. Fee: $50

Multi-Sport Camp
Join us to learn and experience eight sports for four mornings. The sports are baseball/softball, basketball, flag football, golf, track, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. The camp will take place at the Recreation Center and it’s surrounding fields Tuesday through Friday from 8am - 12pm on May 28 - 31. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. Register by May 20. Fee: $55

Golf Lessons
Join us in learning the lifelong sport of golf. The lessons will take place at the WPR Campus Field 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 5pm on July 16 - 25. The session will conclude with 2 hours of golf at Sand Creek Golf Course on July 30 from 8am - 10am. The lessons are for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. Equipment is provided.
Register by July 10. Fee: $55

Archery Camps
Join us to learn archery this summer. The camps will take place at the Recreation Center and its surrounding fields Monday through Thursday from 9am - 11am on June 3 - 6 and June 10 - 13. Open to boys and girls grades 6th-12th. Equipment is provided. Register by May 27 & June 3 respectively. Fee: $55

CARA Track & Field
This program gives youth the opportunity to participate in track meets against other youth in Colorado. Meets will be held on Saturdays at locations across the state (participants are responsible for transportation to and from meets). The season will last from June 3 to July 20. The program is for boys and girls ages 5-16. Practices will be from 10 - 11am two days per week - Tuesdays and Thursdays at Mesa Ridge High School. Register by June 2. Fee: $55.

Tiny Tykes Soccer
Tiny Tykes is a FUNdamental program that teaches basic soccer skills while focusing on motor skill development, balance, coordination, concentration, listening skills, and teamwork of players ages 2-5. Sessions will take place on Saturdays June 15 - July 27, and August 10 - September 14 at Windmill Mesa Park. There are also two weeks of Monday- Friday sessions at Widick Field; June 3 - 7 and July 22 - 26.

Personal Training
Book our new one-on-one personalized Personal Training sessions (1-hour sessions). We have 5 different packages you can choose from starting at $188 for once a week sessions for one month. See our registration page for full pricing details.
We also offer a one time, free 30-minute Personal Training session where you can meet one of our personal trainers, discuss training methods, your goals, previous experience and any questions you may have! Register online now!
NEW: We now offer a small group package (2-3 people) for a total of $260. This package allows a small group to workout together with one of our Personal Trainers, once a week for four weeks. Workout with friends and save money!

Martial Arts - May & June  
With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJU-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control. We do recommend you come in to observe a class prior to registering to make sure this style of class will fit your needs. Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays in May & June @ 6 - 7:30pm. No classes May 27 or June 19. Ages: 7 and older. Fee: $112.50. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2

High School Training Camp - May & June
High School Athlete Off-Season Training camp available for all high school students and athletes. The program is designed to develop and maximize the athletic abilities of all young students and athletes. We will be incorporating speed training (specifically explosive speed and ground force development), flexibility, agility training, and reactive training (both linear and lateral speed). We will also take time to discuss basic sport nutrition. Dates: Saturdays, May 25 - June 29 @ 10 - 11:30am. Fee: $45. Location: Meet at the Recreation Center Fitness Room 1

Generation POUND - May & June
Generation POUND® was created not just as a workout geared towards kids, but a MOVEMENT that aims to change the concept of health and fitness for today’s youth. The program fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills for “Rockstars in Training”. Dates: Saturdays May 25 - June 29 @ 10:30 - 11:30am. Ages 6-12. Fee $36. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2

Improvements to our Main Campus and Parks

New Widick Turf Field

The Widick Turf Field is scheduled to be complete by the end of May. The primary purpose of the field is to support our youth and adult sports programs. When not in use by WPR, the public may use the field like all of our open space. Formal organized activities by outside groups require a field reservation permit. Please read and adhere to the rules and regulations posted on signs at all entrance gates.

Trees

Starting the winter of 2024, Timberline Landscaping will begin removing dead trees, trimming existing trees, and start planting new trees at all of our main campus and parks. Over the next ten years, WPR is committed to planting new trees every year for the community to enjoy for years to come.
