WPR Preschool 2024/2025 School Year

Preschool registration is open for the 2024/2025 school year! More information and required paperwork can be found on our WPR Preschool website for our 3 year old and 4 year old programs!

Brick Garden

WPR is creating a brick garden in front of the Recreation Center. Bricks can be customized allowing you to advertise a company, celebrate you, your family, honor a loved one, or create a memoriam. All proceeds contribute to the Aaron Gutierrez Scholarship Fund. Fees range from $50-$85 based on size and customization. Next order will be placed October 1. Order bricks!

Painting P-art-y - Watercolor - Garden Scene     
This adult painting class is for beginners and seasoned painters alike. You will be taken step by step through a Watercolor Garden Scene painting to take home and enjoy. Participants will learn mixing techniques and layering effects, no previous knowledge is necessary. Our art instructor directs you through the painting process to help bring out your inner artist. Every student will walk away with a painting. No need to bring anything with you, except your creativity! Date: Wednesday, June 5  @ 6:30 - 8:30pm. Fee: $25. Ages: 16+. Register by the end of today! 

 

Youth Art Camp - Color Explosion 
This two-day art camp will focus on color, creation, and creativity. We will use unique art techniques and our imaginations to create colorful (and messy) art projects. Dates: Tuesday, June 11 & Wednesday, June 12 @ 10am - 12pm. Fee: $45. Ages: 6-12. Register by June 4.

Summer Fun in the Kitchen - Session 2
Join our cooking instructors and learn the basics of cooking in the kitchen and how to prepare recipes. Skills learned are lifelong and beneficial for the entire family. Dates: M - F, June 24 - June 28 @ 9 - 11am. Location: Sproul Junior High School. Ages: 6th - 9th grade (2024/2025 school year). Fee: $35. Register by June 17. 

Canning & Preserving 
Learn how to safely water bath can your food to preserve them. Preserving foods for your pantry is a great way to stock up for your family and extend the bounty of your garden harvest or save your bulk purchases from spoiling. Everyone will walk away with 1 preserved jar of goods. Date: Monday, June 17 @ 5 - 7pm. Ages: 16+. Fee: 30. Register by June 10. 

Camp With Us! 

Best of Bear Trap 
The 47 year tradition of students attending Bear Trap Ranch continues this summer! Located in Pike National Forest, Bear Trap Ranch provides the accommodations for our trip to experience Colorado's great outdoors. Our experienced and qualified staff will lead 6th, 7th and 8th grade (as of 2024/2025 school year) students on a hike to a great vantage point to see Colorado Springs from a new perspective. Campers will also rappel a boulder face, learn about nature, leave no trace, sing around a campfire with s'mores, and stargaze during a night hike. A great trip for all students whether this is their first time in the mountains or they already appreciate the outdoors. The overnight adventure with great food, new experiences, and friends will be something your child remembers forever! Camp Dates: June 26 - 7:30am depart from WPR,               June 27 - 5:30pm return to WPR. Mandatory Parent Meeting Tuesday, June 11 @ 6pm at Widefield Parks and Recreation. Fee: $125. Register by June 10.

Drop-In Basketball, Pickleball, or Volleyball
The Recreation Center has designated “Drop-in” times to play Basketball, Pickleball, and/or Volleyball. During those times, areas are reserved and set up for this specific sport play, however, during “Open Gym” anyone who has paid for entry into the Recreation Center may use and access the gym for any sport or activity. We post a Weekly Gymnasium Schedule on the Recreation Center page of our website so you can stay in tune to when the space is available.

Dive into summer with us at the Aquatics Center for Open Swim! Experience the thrill of our diving board, conquer our climbing wall, and navigate the exciting Wibit Bridge. Spaces fill up quickly, so secure your spot for each session you plan to attend to guarantee your entry!

Adult Summer Outdoor Grass Volleyball League
If playing volleyball on the grass surface and getting some Vitamin D is more your style, we offer our coed grass volleyball league. The team registration fee is only $150 and our registration deadline is June 9! Season starts on June 20!

Summer Slam Adult COED Volleyball Tournament
Time to get your tournament on! Our annual Summer Slam tourney is open for registration.
Only $150 per team with a 3 game guarantee. Winners take home camping/bbq prizes for the summer! Registration ends June 30!

Adult Summer Cornhole League
Time to sink some bags! Get your partner and register for our summer cornhole league! Matches are on Wednesday afternoons and team registration fee is only $50. Make sure you register before June 2! Season starts on June 12! 

Adult Pickleball Lessons
Come learn the fundamentals of the fastest growing sport in America! We are offering 2-day lessons for $40! Sounds like a great dill! Make sure you register for our beginner or intermediate lessons! Relish the opportunity! Visit our website’s pickleball page for the full list of session dates. Great minds dink alike! 

Adult Pickleball “Skills and Drills”
If you want to focus on specific pickleball skills, then this program is for you! You could sign up for “Footwork and Strategy” or “Serving and Groundstrokes”! These sessions are perfect for the player that just wants to hone their skills. Registration deadlines are the Sundays before the scheduled Tuesday sessions. Limited spots available!

CARA Track & Field
This program gives youth the opportunity to participate in track meets against other youth in Colorado. Meets will be held on Saturdays at locations across the state (participants are responsible for transportation to and from meets). The season will last from June 3 to July 20. The program is for boys and girls ages 5-16. Practices will be from 10 - 11am two days per week - Tuesdays and Thursdays at Mesa Ridge High School. Now accepting late registration. Fee: $55.

Youth Fall Cheerleading
Register for our coed cheerleading teams for ages 4 years old to 5th grade. Cheer for a flag football team with great spirit at games that take place from August 10 to September 28, on WSD3 fields.
Register by July 14. 4 Years/Pre-K  Fee: $40 (5 games) | K-5th Grade Fee: $50 (7 games)

Basketball Camp
Register for a basketball camp at WPR. We will provide skill development opportunities through drills, games, and instruction. The camp will take place at the Recreation Center Monday through Friday from 9am - 12pm on July 15 - July 19. Boys and girls camps for ages 7-13. Register by July 10. Fee: $50

Golf Lessons
Join us in learning the lifelong sport of golf. The lessons will take place at the WPR Campus Field 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 5pm on July 16 - 25. The session will conclude with 2 hours of golf at Sand Creek Golf Course on July 30 from 8am - 10am. The lessons are for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. Equipment is provided.
Register by July 10. Fee: $55

Archery Camp
Join us to learn archery this summer. The camp will take place at the WPR Green Field, Monday through Thursday from 9am - 11am on June 10 - 13. Open to boys and girls grades 6th-12th. Equipment is provided.

Tiny Tykes Soccer
Tiny Tykes is a FUNdamental program that teaches basic soccer skills while focusing on motor skill development, balance, coordination, concentration, listening skills, and teamwork of players ages 2-5. Sessions will take place on Saturdays June 15 - July 27, and August 10 - September 14 at Windmill Mesa Park.

Personal Training
Book our new one-on-one personalized Personal Training sessions (1-hour sessions). We have 5 different packages you can choose from starting at $188 for once a week sessions for one month. See our registration page for full pricing details.
We also offer a one time, free 30-minute Personal Training session where you can meet one of our personal trainers, discuss training methods, your goals, previous experience and any questions you may have! Register online now!
We now offer a small group package (2-3 people) for a total of $260. This package allows a small group to workout together with one of our Personal Trainers, once a week for four weeks. Workout with friends and save money!

Martial Arts - July & August 
With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJU-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control. We do recommend you come in to observe a class prior to registering to make sure this style of class will fit your needs. Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays in July & August @ 6 - 7:30pm. Ages: 7 and older. Fee: $135.00. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2

High School Training Camp - July & August
High School Athlete Off-Season Training camp available for all high school students and athletes. The program is designed to develop and maximize the athletic abilities of all young students and athletes. We will be incorporating speed training (specifically explosive speed and ground force development), flexibility, agility training, and reactive training (both linear and lateral speed). We will also take time to discuss basic sport nutrition. Dates: Saturdays, July 13 - August 17 @ 10 - 11:30am. Fee: $45. Location: Meet at the Recreation Center Fitness Room 1

Generation POUND - July
Generation POUND® was created not just as a workout geared towards kids, but a MOVEMENT that aims to change the concept of health and fitness for today’s youth. The program fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills for “Rockstars in Training”. Dates: Saturdays July 6 - July 27 @ 10:30 - 11:30am. Ages 6-12. Fee $24. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2

Improvements to our Main Campus and Parks

New Widick Turf Field
The Widick Turf Field is scheduled to be complete by the end of May. The primary purpose of the field is to support our youth and adult sports programs. When not in use by WPR, the public may use the field like all of our open space. Formal organized activities by outside groups require a field reservation permit. Please read and adhere to the rules and regulations posted on signs at all entrance gates.

Trees
Starting the winter of 2024, Timberline Landscaping will begin removing dead trees, trimming existing trees, and start planting new trees at all of our main campus and parks. Over the next ten years, WPR is committed to planting new trees every year for the community to enjoy for years to come.

Free Summer Meals 

Widefield School District 3 is providing free summer meals to children under the age of 18. 

Dates: May 28 - August 2

Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Locations: Widefield Parks and Recreation, Pinello Elementary, and Sunrise Elementary 
There is no sign up or forms to fill out to participate in this program. The meals will be provided weekdays (excluding holidays). Meals must be enjoyed on site. Menus can be viewed at https://wsd3ns.com/ under the menus tab and selecting any school and the meal period. Please contact Nutrition Services at (719) 391-3560 if there are any dietary or nutritional concerns. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Widefield Backpack Bash
Registration is now open for the Widefield Backpack Bash!

What is the Widefield Backpack Bash?

  • It's a community event in which COSILoveYou helps WSD3 give out free backpacks and school supplies to students in our community.

  • Vendors are also present to provide families with resources and support for the school year.

Where and When is the Widefield Backpack Bash?

  • Saturday, August 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Grand Mountain School: 11060 Fontaine Blvd.

Is registration required?

  • All students wishing to receive a free backpack are required to pre-register. Preregistration is the only way to ensure you get your backpack.

  • Please select the date and # of students (K-12) receiving backpacks followed by the location you plan to attend: Grand Mountain School - Widefield
