Celebrate With Us!

Widefield Family Health and Fitness Day -  Saturday, June 10 @ 9:30am - 11:30am. 

Join us for a Family Health Extravaganza. This event is put on in conjunction with the National Family Health and Fitness Day. We will offer free fitness classes, a wellness expo, water safety information, splash park fun (at the end of the event), free haircuts, and more! This event will be located on WPR’s Main Campus. Saturday, June 10 @ 9:30am - 11:30am.

Mini & Me First Notes Music Enrichment   

Join these mini and me music classes for our youngest musicians, consisting of a mix of movement, children’s songs, and original music!  

Dates: Wednesdays in July @ 9:30 - 10:15am. Ages: Infant - 2 years.
Fee: $40. Register by June 28. 

           Wednesdays in July @ 10:30am - 11:15am. Ages: 3 - 5 years.
Fee: $40. Register by June 28.

Painting P-art-y - Lake Sunset
This adult painting class is for beginners and seasoned painters alike. You will be taken step-by-step through a Lake Sunset painting to take home and enjoy. Participants will learn mixing techniques and layering effects, no previous knowledge is necessary. Our art instructor directs you through the painting process to help bring out your inner artist. Every student will walk away with a canvas painting. No need to bring anything with you, except your creativity!

Date: Wednesday, June 21 @ 6:30 - 8:30pm. Ages: 16&Up. Fee: $25. Register by June 14.

Best of Bear Trap
The 46 year tradition of students attending Bear Trap Ranch continues this summer!
Located in Pike National Forest, Bear Trap Ranch provides the accommodations for our trip to experience Colorado's great outdoors. Our experienced and qualified staff will lead 6th, 7th and 8th grade (as of 2023/2024 school year) students on a hike to a great vantage point to see Colorado Springs from a new perspective. Campers will also rappel a boulder face, learn about nature, leave no trace, sing around a campfire with s'mores, and stargaze during a night hike. A great trip for all students whether this is their first time in the mountains or they already appreciate the outdoors. The overnight adventure with great food, new experiences, and friends will be something your child remembers forever! Mandatory Parent Meeting July 26 @ 6pm at Widefield Parks and Recreation.
Dates: August 2 - 7:30am Depart from WPR, August 3 - 5:30pm Return to WPR. Fee: $125. Register in person by: July 21.

Summer Open Swim Hours start May 27! Prices are changing from drop-in rates to daily rates and will be $6.50 for children and seniors and $7.50 for adults! Purchasing daily admission does not guarantee you spots for the full day, each swimmer must sign up for each desired session for the day as it is first come, first serve. Use our SignUp registration system to reserve your spot! See our website for Open Swim Hours and NEW prices. 

Join us at the pool this Memorial Day! The pool will be open from 1pm to 2:30pm on May 29! Be sure to SignUp each member of your party for guaranteed admission! 

 

Adult Pickleball Lessons
Come learn the fundamentals of the fastest growing sport in America! Pickleball lessons offered! We are offering 2-day lessons for $40! Sounds like a great Dill! Make sure you register for our beginner or intermediate lessons! Relish the opportunity! - Be sure to visit our website’s pickleball page for the full list of session dates. Great minds Dink alike! 

Adult Softball Leagues
Make sure to register your team for our upcoming summer softball leagues. The COED league will play on Mondays and Men’s league will play on Tuesdays. $450 to register your team for a 10-game season. Registration ends on June 4. Limited spots available!

Adult Volleyball Leagues
If you are more of a spiker or a digger, our grass volleyball league is just the thing! Games will be played on Thursday evenings. Registration is only $150! Registration ends June 4.

Adult Volleyball Tournaments
Our annual Indoor Summer Slam tournament registration is now open! Dates are July 11, 18, and 25. This tournament has a 3 game guarantee and winners win BBQ and camp-out prizes! Fee is only $150! Registration ends July 4.

CARA Track & Field
Don’t miss this chance to compete in track and field meets against other youth throughout Colorado. Meets are held in various locations around the state on Saturdays (participants are responsible for their own transportation). Practices are held at Mesa Ridge High School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 - 11am. The season will take place from June 5 to July 22. Register for $40 by June 5.

CARA Rockies Skills Challenge
Free to all boys and girls, ages 6-13, the Rockies Skills Challenge tests your skills in base running, batting and throwing. The competition is FREE and will take place on WPR Green Field, June 3 at 10:00am. Registration will be on-site the day of the competition. It is a great opportunity to have fun and test your skills! The winners of each age division will receive ribbons and the opportunity to compete in a sectional competition. 

Fall Cheer, Flag Football, & Soccer
Register to play a fall sport with us by July 9. The youth cheer, flag football and soccer games will take place from August 5 to September 30. Flag football will be offered for children 4 years to 5th grade. Cheerleading will be offered to children 4 years to 5th grade. Soccer will be offered to children 4 years to 8th grade. The cost for 4 years/Pre-K and 6th-8th divisions will be $40 and will play 5 games. Kindergarten to 5th grade will cost $50 and will play 7 games.

Soccer Camps by Challenger Sports
Challenger Sports is holding soccer camps at Widick Field June 5 - 9 and July 10 - 14. Challenger offers various options during these camps for ages 2 to 14. To register for Challenger Sports visit their website at www.challengersports.com

 

Move With Us!

New Rec Specialist
Jason Dandino is our new Recreation Specialist for Health and Fitness. Jason has experience working at the D1 Collegiate level and working with Industrial Field workers as an Athletic Trainer. He is excited to bring his experience to the Widefield community and expand on the fitness foundation WPR has established. Feel free to stop by and share your ideas for fitness classes you would like to see added at the new Recreation Center.

 

Come Get Fit With Us!

We have many fitness classes to choose from, check us out! View our website for our current schedule or pick one up in the office. Prices have changed from drop-in rates to daily rates.

We have a new class! Salsa Gold - Come learn basic salsa moves with fun upbeat music. Dance your way to your fitness goals standing or using a chair. All adults are welcome. Tuesdays @ 10am.

Martial Arts - May & June 
With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJO-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control. Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays in May & June @ 6 - 7:30pm. Ages: 7 and older. Fee: $112.50.

Yogi Kids - May & June 
Join us for introductory youth yoga classes that focus on relaxation, fun, and movement! Yoga is a great activity to start at a young age; it enhances flexibility, strength, coordination, body awareness, and confidence.  Dates: Wednesdays in June @ 5 - 5:45pm. Grades: Kindergarten - 5th. Fee: $54. 

Free drop-in introduction classes: June 14, Kids only and June 28, Kids & Parents. Both sessions are 5 - 5:45pm.

WPR Recreation Center

Construction Update
The WPR Recreation Center construction is on schedule to be complete in the next couple of weeks. The staff will be working to transition from the current location at the Community Center to the new building. The expectation is the front office and administration staff will be moved by mid-June in preparation for the Grand Opening to the public on July 14, 2023. As the building is taking shape, the WPR staff are getting excited about all the opportunities the new space will have to continue to serve the community at a high level. New programs and events will be coming this summer and fall. Follow the construction progress by visiting the WPR Recreation Center page on our website.
